Claudio, one of the most decorated players in College Soccer History(sorry, it's soccer over here), went to college at the University of Virginia in the USA, where Bruce Arena(Current USA Mens National Team Coach) was the coach. He won three consecutive national titles, won player of the year in '92 & '93.
In Claudio's professional career, he originally played with Bayer Leverkusen where he began to make a name for himself. He was loaned to Wolfsburg where he made 27 starts & was ranked 25th best player in the Bundesliga in 1998.
In 1998, Claudio took a transfer to Glasgow to play with Rangers, he started the final six games of that season, and helped push Rangers to the SPL title.
In 1999, Claudio scored 4 goals in 11 appearances for Rangers and was given Man of the Match awards during a key Champions League match with Parma. He was named Scotlands player of the month in August, scoring 4 goals in 4 games.
Claudio made his dream move to England when Sunderland called him up. After becoming a crowd favorite rather quickly, he injured his knee in a game against Bolton, in 2002, and he was out for the rest of the season.
As Fulham and Everton fought for his signature, City ghosted in and snatched him for 2.5mil.
Since signing for city, he has struggled to find the form that made fans chant for him at Ibrox, and made his name known by all in and around Sunderland.
However, at the end of the 2004 season, Reyna began to regain the form of his with Sunderland and Rangers. Maybe he has been over training, traveling between USA National Team duty, and Manchester City, or maybe age has finally caught up with him, or maybe his injury spell will be short lived, making 2005 the year he pushes the blues into UEFA. I sure freakin' hope so you old bastard!!!
INTERNATIONAL CAREER: Claudio is a two time Olympian, and a three time World Cup player(94,98,'02). In '94, he was the youngest memeber of the US World Cup squad. In '96, he was listed as an "over-age" player in the Olympics where he scored less than a minute into the opening game against Argentina(p.s. his father was born there). In '98, he was one of only 3 USA players to play every minute of the World Cup. In the 2002 World Cup, despite missing the opening game against Portugal, he managed to play every minute of every other game until thier track of wins came to an end in a dramatic quarterfinal loss to Germany(which we should have won, had Michael Bollocks been called for the foul on Donnovan). He played probably the best game of his career in a 2-0 win over mexico, where he ran about 17 miles up and down the left flank. After the game, I remember him saying, "I just want to keep playing, that was fun". In 2003, Claudio earned Man of the Match honors in a Gold Cup Semifinal loss to Brazil.
CLAUDIO, WAS THE FIRST USA PLAYER IN HISTORY, TO BE NAMED TO THE FIFA WORLD CUP ALL-STAR FIRST TEAM.
